SMACK STUDIO OVERVIEW
Yo dude, Smack Studio is a sick sandbox fighting game that comes with some rad built in creation tools. You can transform 2D sprites into 3D animations using our new animation tech, making it super quick to bring your characters from concept to playable creation. With our automation tools you can get it all done in a fraction of the time.
Once you’ve got your fighters ready, take them to the stage and battle with up to 8 players, or even export your animations for your own projects! The Battle Mode lets you face off with up to 8 players offline or 4 players online with rollback netcode, offering competitive, fast-paced gameplay and crazy combo potential. You can unleash devastating ultra attacks that you create yourself, and the ultras for our default roster are designed with balance in mind for competitive play.
You can play using any DirectInput or XInput controller, including GameCube controllers via the official Nintendo GameCube controller adapter, MayFlash USB adapter, or something similar. With Smack Studio you can create pixel art animations that have 3D depth and rotation using a unique approach that maps 2D images to bones in a 3D skeleton. You can take a character from concept to a fully playable fighter in under 30 minutes using one of our templates or even characters made by the community.
Frame-by-frame animation lets you add polish and customization, create custom projectiles and special effects, and even add functionality using actions attached directly to your animations, which is a simple but effective form of coding. Plus with Steam Workshop support you can share your creations with the world and browse an endless supply of community creations. Our patented tool’s speed up the creation process for experienced artists and help newbies get started.
Just attach your pixel art to an animation rig, drag the bones to create smooth animations, and export them for use in any project you like. We hold no legal claim over any IP created in Smack Studio, so feel free to create, share, monetize, and do whatever you want with it! Just keep in mind that the max canvas size is currently 256×256 pixels and while we might increase this in the future, we can’t promise anything right now. The ideal height for characters is between 50 and 150 pixels tall, and anything outside these limits might need more manual cleanup after exporting.
Also, note that Smack Studio is more performance-intensive than most other pixel art animation software because of our 3D rotation and Unreal Engine integration, but we hope the trade-offs are worth it for players and artists!
